Born and raised in South Africa, Paul Shippey grew up amid the rich color and vibrancy that only life in Africa has to offer. Being exposed to the great outdoors at an early age left an indelible mark that would later serve to spark a major interest in travel and adventure.
Though Shippey graduated with law and international relations degrees, he was a car nut from an early age and gravitated in that direction shortly after leaving the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
It was while working as a reporter and later editor on several motoring magazine titles that Paul was exposed to leading automotive lens men. This was when his interest in still photography evolved into a true passion. Early work centered on photojournalism for several magazines covering the auto industry and motor racing.
After a decade of living life in the fast lane, the smell of high octane fuels and roar of engines gave way to a desire to get away from it all and commune with nature. Paul began to travel to distant locations from the Nepal Himalaya to the shifting sands of the Sahara desert. His love for travel and adventure photography continues unabated to this day. Home is now in Boulder, Colorado.

Shippey's work has been published on several continents including Africa, Asia, Europe and the US. Titles in which his work has been published include:
Travel: Trekking; Taipei Travels; Out There, Mobil; Flying Springbok; Marung; Flamingo
Automotive: Drive; Wiel; Star Motoring; Car Enthusiast
Leisure: FHM; Maxim; The Christian Science Sentinel; Personality
Tabloid: Sunday Times; Metro Motoring; The Star; The Citizen; The Sun
Sports: Sportsday; SA Cycling; Divestyle
Business: Financial Mail; Marketing Mix; Business Times
